Meats is a family butchery in Burrawang which was established in 1972 by John's father Joe Mauger, principally selling Beef and Lamb.
John started working at the shop in 1976 at 16 years of age and by 18 started to manage the butchery while his father ran the farm.
With supermarkets finding their way into family economy it became harder for small businesses to compete, this sparked a need to to diversify, firstly by creating a catering business and then making our own pies.
John's knows what makes for a great result; from his knowledge of farming and in particular caring for his cattle through to presentation at the butchery. The proof is in the tasting. Livestock are grown in natural surroundings without the use of chemicals and hormones, which produces a quality meat.
The catering developed from small beginnings, starting with beautifully Roasted Beef, carved and presented to guests. Due to demand today, we offer a fully catered menu. Whether a Christening, Birthday, Wedding or just a party we can help with suggestions from our delicious menus.
